McCain on Somalia timetable

Now, when this got pushed around by the left I thought it was pretty unfair. The lefties didn't tell you the rest of the story. The context of his statements are 1) President Clinton already made the decision to bring the troops home in 6 months 2) The mission to Somalia really was billed as a purely humanitarian mission with no national security interest 3) McCain is saying that since the President has already announced a pull out, why wait? Just bring them home now since they already fulfilled the mission.

However, since McCain is now doing to Romney what the lefties (his own buddies) did to him I think it is only fair to bring this up again. Romney's comments where in the context of evaluating strategies, one of which is always disengagement. He did not advocate it, he merely talked to the fact that if it was going to happen we should not advertise the details to our enemies. He made it quite clear he did not advocate withdrawal at that time and said he would veto a timetable if he was in office at that time.

So here you go Maverick.

And before you get all St. John on me, remember, I ain't sending my people out to talk to the Democrats about selling out my party like.....someone did.
