The story of the year
It may be Iraq as Michelle Malkin writes about today. But I think the real story of the year is largely unknown. I think it is in Afghanistan and Pakistan. I don't want to go into to much detail because I may have an article about it at American Thinker in a few days, but here is a teaser. President Bush has held together a coalition of nations in Afghanistan for some time now. Many of those nations have a populace that may be more opposed to their involvement there than our own citizenry has become about staying in Iraq. In addition, a rather important shift has occurred in Pakistan that has allowed Musharraf to take the fight to al Qaeda and allied Taliban. And for once, the Pakistan military is kicking butt. The operational map for al Qaeda is getting smaller by the day. 2007 may be the year it all changed in the war on terror.
